Project Summary

The overall goal of the project is to develop policy and management recommendations to restore West African drylands and improve rural livelihoods through agroforestry based land management interventions. Our work plan is organized to address issues at several scales from national to local levels and with several tasks designed to provide information in both in country hands on training and web based tools for evaluations.

Overall, the project has been organized into three tasks:
  1. Emergy evaluations of national, regional and local scale issues related to restoring West African drylands and improving rural livelihoods through agroforestry-based land management interventions
  2. Training workshops for regional and national scale policy makers, with web-based dissemination of project findings
  3. A web-interactive database framework for emergy evaluation, populated with best available data to be used for evaluations of land management interventions
